这里的seen 跟后面句子的主语 mountain与forest构成动宾关系。mountain与forest是被看的。

这种形式是非谓语动词做状语。

英语的非谓语动词做状语，to do 一般表示动作未发生，一般做目的状语。

doing表示主动 /正在…

done表示被动/状态

例如：to catch the early train，he got up early.

为了赶早班车，他早早起床。

using the new phone，he felt more easy toconnect others

表示非谓语动词与它的逻辑主语成逻辑上的动宾关系。具体到这个例子里，就是determined和he的关系。
