According to the definition of the Economic and Social Research Council, social science refers to the study of various phenomena in human society by using scientific methods. Social science majors include Psychology, Linguistics, Criminology, Education, Law, Political Science, Economics and Business, Sociology and Social Work, Geography, Management, etc. Based on the survey of Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), the key areas of employment of social science graduates are:
1. Government policy development and research
2.Social and education support services (including social work, careers advice and guidance, learning mentoring)
3. Finance and commerce
4. Voluntary and charitable organisations
5. Media, journalism, and public relations
