rich和wealthy都可以表示“富有的”，“富裕的”意思。但各词的实际用法有所不同。
一、wealthy作为形容词，是表示拥有大量的财产，特别多的钱财，特别贵重的资产，和生活极为豪华的含义。
例句1:He could have been extremely wealthy .他本来可以极其富有。
例句2:He has inherited a great deal of money and is now very wealthy.他继承了大量的遗产，现在变成了富翁。
二、rich跟wealthy类似，是指金钱、财物或财源等比正常的要多的含义。作为形容词翻译为“富裕的，富饶的，肥沃的”。
但不一样的是，侧重指物体中的某种成分含量高，或某地盛产某物，常见的搭配是be rich in “富含....”。

另外补充其他用法，当rich作为名词的时候，除了可以表示“富人”之外，还可以表示“财富,资源”，一般以复数的形式出现，为riches。作为形容词，还可以翻译为“浓郁的”。
