哈佛格式为:
1、每条参考文献先要注明作者的姓氏，然后是名字的缩写，加上填写在括号中的日期;如果同一作者有多处引用，按时间顺序排名，如果同一作者有多处引用且在同一年份，按照文章中出现的顺序在年份后加注英文字母小写;
2、无论是书籍还是期刊，都要用斜体字，同时引用名称要与出版物名称无论大小写还是标点符号都要完全一致;从出版物中直接引用材料，都要带引用符号，同时只有首字母等大写。
哈佛格式也叫作作者－日期法，最初广泛应用于物理学和自然科学研究论文的参考注释，后来逐渐推广至社会科学研究论文，是欧洲、澳洲大学社会人文学科最常见的论文参考文献引用格式。
